Should teachers wake up students that sleep in class?

After listening to your teacher/professor for 20 minutes or so, your vision begins to blur. Then, your eyelids feel droopy and heavy, followed by your neck loses its ability to hold up your head. Before you realize it, you’re already asleep. The question is: Should teachers wake up students that sleep in class?

As a teacher, on one side of the issue I would say, wake them up since they’re bad examples to everybody else. Teachers have the responsibility to get their students learn properly in school. Sleeping in class is surely not learning. On the other hand, I think the students should know responsibility well enough to keep themselves awake in class. It should not fall on the teacher to keep them up. No one is going to wake them up in the future when they are at work in an office; they will just get fired. By the way, if they were so tired that they can’t stay awake, learning probably won’t occur anyway. While high school students are urging to make his/her own decisions, they should learn to bear the consequences at the same time.

As a parent, I strongly believe that teachers should wake up their students. A teacher shouldn’t purposely let a student miss information as the punishment or as a way of teaching a lesson. Waking up the sleeping students, getting them make a formal apology and then engaging them in more work to keep them awake are part of moral education that a school should offer.

To be frank, it’s discouraging to see students sleeping in my class; it’s kind of total disrespect.

Dear students, what are your opinions on this issue?

I think you should not wake him/her up, because he/she don't want to study and I think you better to give him/her a white paper better than wake him/her up. This is my comment.

After I read this article, it made me thought of one thing that happened when I was in primary school.
One day, a boy(not me) slept in the Maths lesson. After the teacher discovered, she hit his head by using a thick book. We all laugh at that time.
Back to the article, I think you may try to wake him/her up because he/she cannot keep sleeping. Otherwise, he/she will lose a lot of knowledge. I thing you do not want any students lose lots of knowledge. Right?
That's my own opinion.Thank you!

I think you should wake the students up.If they tell you they are tired, you may punish them and ask them why they have not slept well last night.
If someone slept twice, you can give him/her a white paper.

In my opinion,I agree your comment--shouldn't purposely let a student miss information. Therefore,I suggest you shouldn't wake them up. If you wake them up, they will not have enough sleep then they will not sleep in your lessons but they will sleep in next lessons. It make them miss information more! They will sleep because two reasons:
1) Your teaching is so boring! Do you want to your student suffer from you? If not, don't wake them up!
2) They are clever enough to understand all you say. If that, why don't let them to have a rest?
I am not going to tell you that you should let them sleep and make all class sleep! You should tell them don't sleep and will punish them if they do so next time before they sleep.

I think you can let the student go to toilet to wash their face or let them stand a few minus in the back if they want.
In my pirmary school, the teacher let us walk in the class romm a few minuts if we want,it is very good!!

I think teachers should wake up students when they sleep in class.
That is because the obligation of students are to learn and study. If they sleep in class, they will miss the chance to learn more. This is impolite to teachers too.
I hope that teachers can design interesting activities in the lessons. If we feel sleepy, teachers can tell jokes and let us move in the activities. We may feel funny and pay attention in the lesson.
That is my opinion, hope you will agree.

In my opinion, you should wake up students that sleep in class because they will miss the knowledge. And they will have bad results in the texts, quizes and exams.
But...it is good not to wake them up because it is a punishment when they have bad results.
This is my comment.

I think teacher should let the student sleeps couple minutes, because the student may be too tried due to heavy workload the night before.
if the student does not wake up after a few minutes, teacher should wake her/him up and ask her/him to go to washroom and wash her/his face. It may help the student to stay awake in class
This is my comment.

I think you should wake him/her up because going to school is for learning, not for sleeping.He/She shold sleep at home, not in school,
so that he/she can pay attention to the teacher. Also,if the teacher dose not speak clearly, the students may fall asleep. So I think you should let the students know what you want to say and speak clearly.

I think you should wake him up but he will sleep again or he will not like to listen your lesson. Many student do not want to sleep in lesson but they are so tired.I think they sleep because they do not have enough sleep or your lesson is boring. If he does not have enough sleep. You can call his parents to change his habit. If your lesson is boring ,you can make your lesson intresting.

I think teachers should wake up students that sleep in class because it will connive the other classmates to sleep in class too if teacher don't wake the student up. If teachers don't wake them up, they can't learn the things what the teachers teach in the lesson. But teachers should wake them up politely, so the students will deference the teachers and won't sleep in class again.
This my own opinion. Hope you will like it, Thx.

I think you should not wake the student up.That's because if that student want to sleep, you should let that student sleep. That is the things he want.He don't want to have the lesson, you don't need to compel him.He can't learn the things is his business.
This is my opinion.
